Christian left for the Salt Lake valley with the Moses Clawson Company is 1853.  He bought a farm in Box Elder County, Utah.  Sometime between April 1859 and 1860 they moved back to Fremont County, Iowa, and joined the Reorganized Church of Latter-Day Saints.

ESTRAY NOTICE

Taken up by Andrew J. Stewart at the Old Agency in Pottawattamie county, nearly opposite the mouth of the Platte river, a STEER, described as follows, viz: Said steer is white in the face, with red around the eyes and cheeks, and his body red and white spotted.  There is the appearance of a brand on the left hip, and he is about four years old: prized at sixteen dollars.

A journal entry by Daniel M. Burbank verifies that he stayed in Old Agency the winter of 1847.
“I started west again until I cam to a place called Old Agency.  We wintered here, then on to the Bluffs (7).
