Residents of the Settlement of Farmersville, Pottawattamie County

History

Several sources have been used to compile a possible list of residents. Other members of the family are listed but may not have been in Farmersville. Some had died before that time and some of the children had married and were living with their own families elsewhere.

From the Pottawattamie County Marriages, the following were listed as coming from Farmersville (1):

John W. Lusk (from Big Pigeon) and Mary Park married May 20, 1851

The High Council Minutes confirm that Horace Burgess was the Bishop of the Farmersville Branch (2).

The Pottawattamie High Priests Quorum minutes add (3):

The ‘Tabernacle Post Office' Petition for the Saints of Kanesville, Iowa recorded Horace Burgess as being from Farmersville (4).

A list that was compiled in February, 1848 to indicate which families were ready to travel west was discovered in Camp of Israel schedules and reports (5).
