Aaron Dolph (age 38)
and Elizabeth Cook Mann (age 44) from Council Point married June 10, 1849.  They eventually moved to South Grove in Mills County, Iowa in late 1849.  Aaron’s first wife, Evaline Miller, died in March 1849 and they were living in Highland Grove at that time.  They had five children which were:

Death

A death was announced in the Frontier Guardian as “Burrows, David, 7 September 1850, near Mount Scott, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, of bilious fever, 48 years old (4).

Travel West

A majority of the residents did not travel with one Company.  Several residents traveled west in either 1851 or 1852 in unknown companies.  A number of the residents have been traced to particular companies.

On June 19, 1847, the Jedediah Grant/Willard Snow gathered at the Elkhorn River in Nebraska.  One-hundred sixty individuals were in the Company.  Among the Company was:

The Brigham Young Company on June 5, 1848, from Winter Quarters.  It arrived in the Salt Lake valley on September 20, 1848.  The family traveling with the Company were:

The Allen Taylor Company was organized in Kanesville on July 5, 1848.  The following traveled with that Company:

They arrived in Salt Lake on October 10, 1845.

The Miles Andrus Company departed Kanesville on June 3, 1850, arriving in the Salt Lake valley on August 30, 1850.  The Company consisted of 206 individuals and 51 wagons.  Eleven members of the Isaac Behunin family were in the Company.  Three of the Behunin sons were born to Maribah Morton Behunin who died in 1834.

June 29, 1851 was the departure date for the Easton Kelsey Company.  They left from Kanesville with 100 wagons.  The Company originally left on June 10th but trouble with Indians made them turn back.  Among the Company was:

Isaac Bullock’s Company consisted of 175 individuals.  It departed Kanesville on September 21, 1852.  Four families from Highland Grove joined this Company.

The James Pailing family waited for the Moses Thurston Company which departed on July 3, 1855 from the Mormon Grove in Kansas.  There were 148 individuals and 33 wagons in that Company.  The family probably joined it on the way west.
